Traditional Natural Indigo Tie Dye in Yunnan

I am using the traditional local tie dye to make pillow/cushion covers. This beautiful textile has been made in the Dali area since the Western Han dynasty between 206-24AD and still uses real natural Indigo!

The centre for this craft is about 15km down the lake in another small town and the fabric is made in numerous small, family owned factories. Its interesting as these little business do a lot of export trade, in particular to Japan. Actually it is increasingly my experience in China that this is what Chinese 'factories' look like away from the mega cities; small businesses with what looks like 5-20 workers.

So far I've made these covers, any other suggestions for what I could use it for? I'm a pretty competent on the sewing machine, so any and all ideas welcome!

Great video about the tie dye process
